You can’t make Socialists out of individualists — children who know how to think for themselves spoil the harmony of the collective society which is coming, where everyone is interdependent.
Thanks, Josh, for passing on this quote from John Dewey (1859-1952). Dewey is considered the “founder” of public education in America. He is a signer of the Humanist Manifesto.
There are others whose perspective on education mirrored Dewey’s. Names such as Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, and Saddam Hussein come to mind. Their ideas had consequences.
Different consequences flow from an opposing worldview. Jesus Christ encourages children to think… about what is true, noble, right (Philippians 4:8-9).
